RECORD OF EXPERIENCE AND LEADERSHIP:
• 1ST STREET CULTURAL CAMPUS
- Led City Council effort to create new Mint, African American
Center, Bechtler Modern Art Center, Knight Theatre and expansion
of Discovery Place
• BRYANT PARK REDEVELOPMENT ON WILKINSON BLVD
- Led City Council effort to redevelopment Charlotte’s
important gateway area along Wilkinson Boulevard, including Charlotte
School of Law and mixed use projects which are leading the way
to revitalizing this gateway corridor
- Coordinated economic development with Greenway Expansion
• REDEVELOPMENT OF MIDTOWN MALL
- Led City Council effort to redevelop the Midtown Corridor
with Metropolitan mixed use facilities – Including first
new retail center city in 2 decades
- Coordinated Greenway tie in from CPCC to CMC
• EXPANSION OF YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM
- Grew program in 1ST year from 125 to 250
- Created partnership between city and Goodwill Industries
which helps to empower local youth
• LEADING REDEVELOPMENT EFFORT OF EASTLAND MALL SITE TO
NEW MIXED USE PROJECT
- Money has been allocated for the development of a combination
of residential, parks, business and retail use

• KEEP TAXES LOW
• COORDINATE JOB TRAINING RESOURCES – CMS,
CPCC, UNCC, JCSU, QUEENS
- eliminate duplication of effort and resources to provide streamline
services
• KEEP CHARLOTTE BUSINESS FRIENDLY
- Review and revise regulations impeding new investment
- Create “One Stop Shop” for planning, permitting
and building standards – merging city and county functions
• DIVERSIFY OUR ECONOMY – ENERGY, BIOPHARM,
HIGH TECH
- Create incubator sites and recruit venture capital offices
